The veteran Dutch coach stabilised Barcelona after the difficult times the club went through. He signed various stars like Ronaldinho and developed La Masia products like Xavi, Iniesta and Messi. His direct style of play suited many Barca players and he was mildly successful. It is widely believed that Rijkaard was offered the job following the departure of Gerardo Martino, but he rejected it. He is a good choice to replace Luis Enrique because of his tactical knowledge, but he has not done well in recent jobs. This fact can make Robert overlook Rijkaard.
