5 things we learned from Barcelona’s 5-1 thrashing of Real Valladolid
5. Ansu Fati put up an ordinary display before being taken off
Ansu Fati started his Barça career with a bang, bagging 2 goals and an assist in his first 3 appearances. But since then, the 16-year old Bissau-Guinean teenage sensation has failed to get onto the scoresheet.
Against Real Valladolid, the dry run continued. Of course, Barça cannot rely on a 16-year old to score day-in-day-out. Fati is extremely talented and has enormous potential, but he has a long way to go before he can be labeled a certified goalscorer.
That was what was evident from his performance against Real Valladolid. Fati was poor in possession, and gave the ball away in crunch situations. His passing was off, and he didn’t get into many positions where he could find the back of the net.
That being said, Fati showed that he is a great dribbler. Although nothing much came from his skilful trickery, it proves that Fati has got what it takes. He just needs more playing time to build up some momentum before he can really break out next season.
