Barcelona are frontrunners ahead of Madrid duo, Atletico and Real, as well as Manchester United in their attempts to sign a star midfielder.
Brazil has been one of the biggest market for European giants to fish for youngsters of late. The likes of Arthur Melo, Rodrygo Goes and Vinicius Junior are the perfect examples of this and it’s fair to say that despite settling into a whole new continent and system, they have performed superbly for Barcelona and Real Madrid over the last few months.

Reinier Jesus Carvalho is another player who has emerged as a top name from the Brazilian setup over the last few months and has been monitored closely by European clubs such as Atletico Madrid, Manchester United and Real Madrid, in addition to Barcelona which seems to be his dream destination because of Lionel Messi, as per El Desmarque.
The attacking midfielder has been brilliant for one of South America’s best teams of the recent years- Flamengo- and at only 17 years of age, Reinier has been instrumental for the defending Copa Libertadores champions. His playing style would suit Barca perfectly and his position means that the Blaugrana could benefit from his goal scoring and assisting prowess.
According to reports, Reinier’s release clause is now just 35 million euros and that is mostly being credited to the lack of inflation in the South American transfer market. For a European club to sign such a prospect for a very reasonable price tag would definitely be a great thing, but Barca must give time to their target and monitor him for another season.
For the time being, the Catalans have arguably the best duo of young midfielders in Frenkie de Jong and Arthur Melo who have shown that they can be part of the starting eleven for many years to come. Instead, Ernesto Valverde must ask the board to focus on signing a defensive midfielder as there is literally no backup for Busquets at the moment.
Who do you think Barcelona should sign next as a replacement for Sergio Busquets?
