Barcelona are ready to offer one of their own players in exchange of Lautaro Martinez, who is wanted at the club by Lionel Messi.
Eric Abidal, Barcelona’s technical and sporting director, is currently working on several signings for the club to pursue in 2020. The Blaugrana will be on a mission to strengthen its core in the upcoming year, so bringing in a striker who will be an eventual successor for Luis Suarez is one of the top agendas on their worklist.
More from Everything Barca
Luis Suarez has notched an astounding amount of goals since checking into the Camp Nou from Liverpool, so replacing him is certainly going to be a very difficult task. While Barca would love to have him around for longer, even the forward himself has urged the club to begin a search for his fill-in and has stated that he could move to the United States.
Barcelona have identified Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez as a primary target on Lionel Messi’s recommendation and have been evaluating options on how they could formulate a transfer for him given his high release clause of 111 million euros. Their attempt of landing Martinez was thought to have been jeopardized by Man City’s interest, but El Desmarque has reported that the Catalans have now come up with a masterstroke.
Inter Milan are interested in signing Barcelona midfielder Arturo Vidal and the Nerazzurri’s manager Antonio Conte considers the Chilean as a vital target. The Italian giants are eyeing a swoop for Vidal in January, but that is when Barca would like to offer some cash in addition to the player and try to land Martinez, an option not available to any other suitor.
Antonio Conte’s side leads the Serie A standings ahead of Juventus and has turned up big in the Champions League, with Lautaro Martinez being a vital player at the San Siro having scored 13 times and assisted thrice in all competitions this season. The Argentinian will surely be worth the money for Barca should he keep improving at this rate.
