Barcelona midfielder Arturo Vidal hints at possible exit

Arturo Vidal does not deny that a move away from Barcelona could be a possibility.

Arturo Vidal has had a tumultuous time since arriving at Barcelona. He came in determined to fight his way into the starting line-up but a year and a half into his tenure, the Chilean still finds himself on the bench more often than not.

He has not been shy to vent his frustrations on social media. His latest outburst came prior to the Clasico where he stormed off after training once he found out he wasn’t going to be starting.

He’s long been rumored now with a move to Inter Milan. Vidal has finally spoken up about his time at the club and whether he could leave during the winter transfer window.

According to Diario Sport, he said,

“My representative is who has to see that, but I’m calm and happy at Barcelona. When I return, we’ll see. Now I want to be with my family, and after that return and take a decision.”

Those are not the words of someone who is completely happy. Nor should he be. His goal was to be a starter and it has not panned out that way.

The club find themselves with a surplus in midfield and with Sergio Busquets and Frenkie de Jong penciled in, only one spot remains for the likes of Vidal, Ivan Rakitic, Arthur Melo, and Carles Aleña.

Prior to his injury, Ernesto Valverde has opted for Arthur Melo with Vidal coming in for him in the second-half.

Following the win against Alaves, Valverde shut down any talk of Vidal leaving and stating that he counted on him for the beginning of the year.

However, ultimately, that decision is not up to the manager. Vidal has been clear what he wants and despite his perfect success rate in front goal, it has not translated into more playing time.

With Antonio Conte back at Inter Milan and currently sitting atop Serie A, a reunion could very well be in the cards.
