Manchester City Legend Sergio Aguero is arguably the best and most successful foreign player to have ever graced the Premier League. He’s a massive legend for the league and the club, and he’s made his presence known throughout a long and consistent period of ten years. The amount of consistency and longevity he’s provided as a footballer has to be rated at par with the likes of Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi and Juventus’ Cristiano Ronaldo.
Fabrizio Romano recently revealed that the Manchester City forward will move to Barcelona in the summer as a free agent. The Catalans have been looking for a forward ever since the departure of Luis Suarez to Atletico Madrid.
While Aguero may not be the long-term solution for the lack of no. 9 at the Nou Camp, the City legend can finally replace Suarez in the short term. Sergio Aguero may not be the youngest of players anymore but he still brings a lot to the table.
We will look at 5 different things that Sergio Aguero will bring to the table at Barcelona this summer:
5. Self-sufficiency
Over the last few seasons, Barcelona have lacked players that deliver by themselves during important stages. Obviously, they have Lionel Messi who delivers in almost every game. However, if the magician was not present this season in a hypothetical way, the club would have done much worse. Messi is capable of single-handedly making the difference and that was shown by him even this season despite the poor result.
Sergio Aguero brings exactly that. He brings in goals that will be created by himself. Though he is a proper center-forward who needs supply from the playmakers, Aguero is capable of taking things into his own hands and making the difference. Whether it is a long-range effort or a dribble-based solo goal, the Argentine has got it in him. This is a massive demand at Barcelona as the team looks extremely mediocre if Lionel Messi is absent or not having the level of impact he would desire.

4. Link-up Play With Messi And Co.
Sergio Aguero was always brilliant at linking with playmakers in order to create goals. Along with his 260 goals with Manchester City, he’s also had many assists.
With the arrival of Pep Guardiola during the later stages of Aguero’s reign at the City of Manchester Stadium, the player only seemed to improve. His positioning became much more improved and he was able to see more of the ball during the build-up, which is an extremely important factor at Barcelona.
Lionel Messi will require more mature and experienced players like Sergio Aguero in order for the team to do better and win trophies. The former Atletico Madrid man has been gorgeous when it comes to link-up play and fans should be excited to see what he can do alongside Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, and more.

3. Ton Of Experience And Leadership Like Suarez
The Premier League legend has had a diverse career. He started his career off in Argentina where he broke Diego Maradona‘s single-season goal tally as a young kid. He also scored over 100 goals for Atletico Madrid before moving to Manchester. The forward will not be a stranger to La Liga’s surroundings in the summer given that he’s already played in the country for multiple seasons at the Wanda Metropolitano.
Around 10 years of English football has only made him physically stronger and his movement has become more quick and energetic by playing in the Premier League for so long. Many argue that La Liga is a level slower when it comes to the pace of the game which will help Aguero settle in perfectly given that he’s already played in such a demanding league.
Experience will be an important characteristic that the Argentine will bring and it will help the squad massively.

2. Ability To Play Quick Passes
Every player that has been coached by Pep Guardiola has improved themselves when it comes to passing and progressing the ball. The Spanish coach demands his players to become brilliant ball carriers and as a result, many elite footballers have credited Pep as the reason for their improvement.
Similarly, Sergio Aguero was always a brilliant center-forward but under Pep he became a much better ball progressor and a ball carrier. His passing and ball movement reached another level which helped with his immense success under the coach. This aspect will be extremely important over at the Nou Camp as the team plays a more possession-based game. Aguero’s got the attributes to fit in perfectly with the Barca philosophy.

1. What Barcelona Lack The Most: Finishing
Aguero is arguably the greatest premier league forward when it comes to playing in the box and arguably the greatest finisher of all time when it comes to near-post finishes.
Kun Aguero during his time has scored a hat-trick past Manuel Neuer, he’s scored 9 past David De Gea in the premier league and he’s beaten some of the best goalkeepers of the world with his finishing. He’s the highest goal scorer when it comes to playing against the league’s top six. The Argentine has the highest number of goals from a single player against Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, and Arsenal in all of premier league history.
The forward is an absolutely brilliant finisher. He ended up having the highest goals scored for a single club in league history beating Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney.
If Aguero is supplied well by the playmakers of Barcelona, then the Catalans have a gem on their hands. The player is capable of accurately finishing many of the chances that others wouldn’t even notice. He’s world-class and the La Liga giants have made a brilliant deal by securing the free agent.
