If FC Barcelona players were characters from Game of Thrones, which ones would they be?

The international break is a bit mundane for sports media; there’s barely anything to write and/or talk about.

To take advantage of time away from official games, I decided to have some fun with this article. Game of Thrones, my favorite show and the most popular on television, is a part of American society that is transcendent and something that everyone knows about.

I figured why not connect it to soccer? If Barcelona players were Game of Thrones characters, who would be who?

SPOLIERS AHEAD!!! Obviously, if you are not seen Game of Thrones or are not caught up on the latest season, it is highly recommended that you proceed with caution as spoilers await!!!

Neymar = Daenerys Targaryen

Both Neymar and Dany are flawed characters who will-in all likelihood-soon become the leaders in their respective realms. Neymar is exceptionally talented and skilled, but often times loses focus and creates controversy on the pitch. Daenerys is strong and determined, but is naïve and ruthless. While Neymar will one day be the guy at Barcelona and take the title from Lionel Messi, Daenerys will one day be the Queen of Westeros and take it from Cersei Lannister.

Andrés Iniesta = Jon Snow

These men are both quiet and humble. They don’t go about bragging and showing off to others. Both men quietly do their job, and if they could, would avoid any kind of public attention. And both Iniesta and Jon Snow are secretly the most important members in their realms. The former brings calmness and composure to Barcelona. He doesn’t say much to the media, and would rather avoid doing so. Without Iniesta on the pitch, Barcelona just doesn’t look the same. He doesn’t get the same attention as MSN, but he brings just as much and more.

More from Everything Barca

With regards to Jon Snow, he doesn’t care about being King in the North or Commander of the Night’s watch. He realizes that there are more important things (like the White Walkers) to deal with. He is extremely humble and honorable. And being the son of Rhaegar and Lyanna, he is more likely than not Azor Ahai and will have the most crucial role in the war to come.

Lionel Messi = Tyrion Lannister

No, these two aren’t just similar because of their relatively shorter than everybody else-but it is a bonus. Barcelona is at it’s best when Messi plays, and the seven kingdoms in Game of Thrones is at it’s peak when Tyrion helps run the show. Back in Season 2, Tyrion served as Hand of the King to Joffrey. Joffrey, being the maniac and tyrant that he was, could serve effectively run the realm.

Luckily, Tyrion was there to make things run smoothly. His most notable accomplishment was defeating Stannis at the blackwater while Joffrey left to go to his mother. When Barcelona is playing poorly, Messi is always there to save the day. He uses his skill and magic to pull out a win, while Tyrion uses his wit and savvy to get out of trouble.
