All three of Barcelona’s vaunted attacking trio, MSN, have been nominated for footballs top individual award this year.
The Ballon D’Or is the top individual award given in all of football. It recognizes the top footballer in the world for the calendar year. As usual, there are many familiar faces that have been nominated over the years. This year, that isn’t going to change. Many of the world’s best made the shortlist for the Ballon D’Or this year from rival players to some of Barca’s own. The three Barca stars, Lionel Messi, Luis Suárez, and Neymar have all made the shortlist for the award this year.
This should be no surprise to anyone let alone Barca fans everywhere. For the last three years, MSN have been arguably the world’s best attacking trio. While they haven’t always been fit, they score goals at an alarming rate. They’ve achieved everything a Barca player could achieve like a Treble (Copa Del Rey, La Liga, and Champions League) in the 2015 season. They also won a second consecutive domestic double last season. They’ve won 8 trophies in total over their time together including three in this calendar year.

It’s never an easy task for defense’s to stop these three players. Lionel Messi, who’s already won 5 Ballon D’Ors (and has an outside chance of winning his 6th) creates so many chances with his wonderful passing and finishing. Neymar does the same thing down the left flank and he does his best to excite the crowd with world-class play. Luis Suárez is the ultimate goal poaching striker that anyone would love to have. El Pistolero was brought to Barcelona to score goals and he’s been on stellar form since his arrival.
MSN are a part of a 30 player list for the top individual prize in football. This includes players like their big rivals, Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo and Atlético Madrid’s Antonie Griezmann. They’ve certainly proven that they are worthy of the award this year, but don’t rule out the possibility of Messi winning. Yes, Messi hasn’t achieved quite the team success that Ronaldo has this season, but Messi’s current form is helping him close the gap in this race. Every year, Barca’s number 10 has a chance to win this award and rightfully so as he’s one of the worlds best.
Overall, the MSN trident have all done more than enough to be deserving of consideration for the Ballon D’Or. All three players have made chances for each other and for their fellow Barcelona teammates. Many would be surprised if Neymar or Suárez won the award, However, no one would be surprised if Messi won. There are still two full months to play in this calendar year so a lot of opinions can change over that time. We will see if the MSN trident can make a big run at the end of the year to win the Golden Ball.
