Ernesto Valverde is a former Barca player and he had shown interest in taking the manager’s role earlier. Valverde is one of the highest rated Spanish managers working in La Liga at the moment. He was linked with the Barca job after Vilanova’s resignation but the board chose Martino instead. He was approached by the Spanish FA to take charge of the national team. But he rejected their offer. Valverde has fallen in love with his current club Athletic Bilbao and won’t leave his job for anything. But the manager’s seat at the Camp Nou has a devilish sort of charm.
