Andres Iniesta confirms talks over his extension has commenced with Barcelona while denying China rumours

The little maestro has confirmed that he will be signing a new deal in the future. Iniesta’s current contract, which expires in 2018, had begun to interest Juventus. But this news is sure to bring Allegri back to earth and show him where Iniesta’s loyalty lies.

More from FC Barcelona News

Andres Iniesta stated his intentions while at an event endorsing a company called Arcos. He said, “We’ve spoke, but I still have a year-and-a-half on my contract. For everything to be calm, the most logical thing would be for it to be done as soon as possible. I’ve never had problems and things between me and the club have always been clear. We approach these matters in a discreet way, but with how things are going on the pitch, I’m optimistic for the future. I’ve said it a million times, but the club are in control, not me. I am not the club’s president. I understand that if my performance and situation is optimal, there won’t be any problems, but it is not something which I can decide on my own. I’m hoping the next news is that the matter has been closed.”

Rumours had been swirling about Iniesta’s move to the Chinese Super League for a long time. He has put these rumours to bed once and for all. He said, “They’ve not called me. In fact, I don’t have an interpreter. Everyone is in charge of their own future and it’s their decision, but all decisions should be respected, everyone has their desire and their opinion. But it’s true that they’re offers and situations which make any human think: each person tries to decide the future where they think they should be, but I’m not thinking of any other country.”

This is very good news for Barcelona and Luis Enrique. Andres Iniesta has cemented his name in the club’s history and will remain a true Blaugrana till his dying day. Visca Barca!
