Ivan Rakitic’s future at the club clouded after he makes statements regarding his position in the squad

The Croatian workhorse of Barca’s midfield might be heading to Manchester after struggling in Luis Enrique’s squad. Rakitic is fully committed to his coach. He even went on record by saying ‘he would jump off a bridge if Lucho told him to’. But every players wants some game time. And a player of Rakitic’s stature, he certainly wants game time. But he hasn’t got it this season. In an interview with Metro, he said, “I hope that I can continue here for many years. I want to renew my contract with Barcelona. (But) I am worried because I always want to play but I have absolute confidence in the coach. I need to work but I’m confident.”

Manchester United need him and Manchester City want him. Manchester United need Rakitic to replace the ageing Michael Carrick and Pep Guardiola wants him because he’s a Barcelona player [he also seems to want the MSN and Sergio Busquets]. He might be signing for one of them come summer if he does not decide to extend his contract.
