Portuguese midfielder Andre Gomes spoke about his development and a few fellow teammates that he compares to.

Andre Gomes is beginning to develop into a really good player for Barcelona. Fans can see signs that he’s beginning to move in the right direction. However, Gomes is still getting used to his surroundings and other things. Regardless of the criticism he receives, the Portuguese midfielder is going to play with great effort and energy. In addition, he is still learning to master the positions of the midfield. Gomes talked about his development and comparisons to two players in a recent press conference.

“I am at a great club, there are changes to get used to but I’m getting accustomed to things,” he said. “I’m still young, I’m growing day by day, but things so much easier thanks to help of teammates and staff. I feel good, I feel comfortable.” Barca players and staff have such a great bond. On the pitch, the players don’t care who gets the glory as long as the team is successful. Off the pitch, the players are ambassadors for the sport doing great things for the community. Gomes loves that the team gives him confidence when it’s needed.

“I understand all opinions, to be honest I just try to improve every day, prepare for every game to compensate for the confidence people have shown in me,” he added. “It is not about setting standards too high, but trying to do things well every day. I hope at the end of the season I have made an important contribution to the team winning trophies.”

“I started as an interior, but then I’ve also played as a pivot. There’s no problem playing anywhere. You have to adapt. It’s easy to become familiar with different positions because well explained to you. I’m just happy to play, wherever that is, it’s up to the manager.”

When asked about how he likes to play, he said, “I prefer to have my own style. I think I’m a mix of the two [Iniesta and Rakitic]. No one is the same as either of them. They’re two great players. I need to keep growing, I have a lot of years ahead of me. They’re the players I look up to inside the team but most important thing is to be myself and that my teammates help me to grow.”
