Barcelona scouts have been tracking Mario for a long time and their efforts may materialise now. Mario is a rock in right side of defense, almost impregnable. His work rate ensures that no left winger can break apart the defense. His concentration and passion for the game is admirable but Mario is not much of a force going forward, which might be a drawback. But if Lucho is looking for a limited right-back to shore up his defense, Mario Gaspar is the man to go for. He has had a rating of 7.13 this season.

Signing Mario will both be expensive and difficult. Villareal are not a selling team and are very tough negotiators. Sport predict that he will cost over €20 million, not the kind of money Barca are willing to shell out.
