Joao Cancelo

Joao Cancelo has been inconsistent this season. It may be because of the problems the Valencia board has faced regarding the coaching position at the club. Gary Neville, Pako Ayestaran, Cesare Prandelli and Voro have all used him differently.

He has shown signs of his former self while also giving some pretty horrible performances. Cancelo’s average rating this season is 6.85. He has done well at attacking positions while doing badly at right-back. If he gets the perfect blend between attack and defense, he could be the best option at right-back.

Barcelona officials and Jorge Mendes, Cancelo’s agent have an agreement in place for his signature. It states that Barca will have an option to purchase him in July, 2017 for a fee of €30 million.

If Robert decides to exercise this option, Joao Cancelo might become the latest Blaugrana. But financial restrictions of the club will not allow this deal to go through. Therefore, Cancelo still remains a Valencia player, at least for now.
