Diego Simeone had some positive things to say about Luis Enrique’s Barcelona side ahead of their clash on Sunday.

Barcelona have seen their fair share of horrible performances recently. They lost 4-0 to PSG in a stunning performance for the worst reasons. In addition, the Blaugrana barely escaped a nightmare result against Leganes last week. The match against Leganes resulted in Barca fans whistling their own players. Overall, last week was a very rough week for Barca and their fans. It was a week that everyone would like to forget.

After a week off, the team has been given the chance to calm their nerves. However, the pressure will be on this weekend. Barca face a very tough opponent in Atletico Madrid on Sunday in the Vicente Calderon. The Catalans have seen Atletico many times over the last few years. Most recently, Barca knocked out Atletico Madrid in the Copa Del Rey Semifinals with a 3-2 aggregate victory. Despite the recent struggles, Atletico manager Diego Simeone has praised Luis Enrique’s team.

"“It is very difficult to compete as they have competed in the last decade. They have won so many titles with Luis Enrique, they have always competed at the top-level and I believe all teams have a bad match, as they did in Paris.”Diego Simeone on Barcelona’s decade of Dominance"

Simeone is correct that every team has a really bad off night. However, Barca has usually been the team giving the beat downs instead of receiving them. That is why the result against PSG sent shock waves throughout the sport. The Atletico manager went on to talk about what it will be like when the two Spanish giants face off once again.

More from Everything Barca

"“We played three extraordinary halves and we went out of the cup to them. They are better. We went to press high and they scored two goals in 20 minutes in the cup game at the Calderon. In the second half we were close to hurting them, but they remain the best team in the world. We will find enthusiasm after the defeat of Madrid and the possibility of fighting for the league again. We are ready to meet the best Barcelona.”Simeone on facing Barca once again"

Overall, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona will not disappoint the fans. It will live up to all the hype that the match has been given. With a good result today, Barca could potentially turn their season around. However, a tough result could be costly in the title race. Luis Enrique must put out his best 11 on Sunday. The great MSN trident must be at their very best against a really good Atletico defense. We’ll see how the match plays out on Sunday.
