Pique Disappointed In Result vs. Depor, Still Optimistic

Spanish defender Gerard Pique wasn’t happy with the loss to Deportivo La Coruna. However, he remains optimistic about Barcelona’s title chances.
Everything seemed to be going in the right direction for the Catalans after a few rough weeks. They completed the largest comeback in Champions League history saving their hopes of reclaiming Europe’s top prize. However, this weekends was the complete opposite of what they hoped. Because of the great comeback, Barcelona spent a few days on top of the world. However, this weekend they came crashing back down to Earth. Deportivo La Coruna stunned Barca winning 2-1 at the Riazor with a late winner. Gerard Pique was one of many that wasn’t happy with the result. However, the Spanish defender is still optimistic about Barca’s La Liga chances.
"“We dominated at the beginning and had control. Their goal took its toll on us. The equaliser was a morale boost, but their second goal was too much. Depor were really good. But everyone connected to Barcelona would have signed up to come back against PSG and lose to Deportivo. That is sport. We’re not machines. After Wednesday’s effort it made it difficult to compete. It looked as if Barca were going to take over the match in the second half after Luis Suarez scored in the first minute of the half. However, it wasn’t meant to be for the Catalans. This was the first time Barca lost when El Pistolero was on the scoresheet. Despite the result, Gerard Pique still believes that his team has a chance to win La Liga. However, the team has no margin for error for the rest of the season and they have to hope leaders Real Madrid drop a few more points.
"“Logically this defeat is a step back in our aspirations to win La Liga, but it’s clear that we can still turn things around. There are a lot of games to go and we’ve seen that everyone is dropping points.”Pique On Barca’s Title Chances"

Overall, the loss to Depor puts a huge dent in Barcelona’s title chances. However, the season isn’t over and they can still comeback. They’ll need to win every league match they have and hope Real Madrid drop points. Barca’s biggest rivals have a few tough matches coming up. This is where the Catalans have to take advantage so they can retain their Spanish title. Hopefully, the rest of the players have the same positive attitude as Gerard Pique. Similar to the PSG comeback, if any team can comeback to win a league title, Barca is certainly that team.
