Luis Enrique believes that Barcelona not playing well in the final third was the main reason why they lost to Deportivo La Coruna.

Barcelona followed up an amazing comeback against PSG with a tough performance against La Liga side Deportivo La Coruna. The Catalans lost 2-1 in a match that may have been a knife into Barca’s title hopes. Even with the close race, this was a match that Barca really needed. However, they had a major emotional letdown that seems understandable due to the emotion of the last match they played. Manager Luis Enrique believes that many things contributed to the shocking loss. However, one thing stood out and that was the lack of quality while attacking Depor’s pack line defense.

"“The final third is always the most difficult. There’s not as much time to think. We lacked a bit of clarity in that area and it’s a shame because I that this was an important game to continue in the same line and to show our rivals how convincing we are. We knew it would be a struggle. From the beginning you could see that. We started well but we lacked a spark. Depor grew into the game and we began to make mistakes, which they took advantage of.”Lucho On The Lack Of Quality Against DeportivoMore from Everything BarcaFC Barcelona tracking Belgian WonderkidFC Barcelona vs Betis Player RatingsBarça boss Xavi to get contract extensionFC Barcelona planning swoop for Arsenal midfielderBarcelona interested in €30 million wonderkid"

Despite Barca getting back into the match, Depor was still breaking down the defense. In addition, the Catalans didn’t take advantage of the few chances that they had. Lucho still remains confident in his team. Knowing that this is his last season in charge, he’d like to go out with a few trophies in his case. He feels that the team still has the chance to win La Liga despite the odds being against them now.

"We have to accept the defeat and look to the future, there are still a lot of games to go. There are not going to be any easy games for anyone and that’s what we will hang on to. That and knowing that we have games to come against direct rivals.Lucho On Barca’s Chances"

Overall, Barca are once again in a tough situation. After a series of positive results, losing to Deportivo puts a dent in their momentum. Lucho and his team have no margin for error as every match is going to be tough for the rest of the year. It’ll be a tough challenge for Barcelona to retain their league title. However, they can do it if they can play excellent defense and take advantage of their chances.
