Barcelona officials prepare for April meeting with Arsenal director Robert Low over Hector Bellerin transfer

The media has linked Hector Bellerin with a move to Barcelona for a long time. The reports were true. But Robert Fernandez neither had the resources nor had encouragement from the player. Bellerin has been firm in his stand against a move back to the Camp Nou.

He feels that signing for Barca was a big mistake as he was denied a chance to develop under Pep Guardiola and Eusebio Sacristan.

Bellerin is right in thinking that and his move to the Emirates has helped his career greatly. He has become the first name on Arsene Wenger’s teamsheet and has repaid Wenger’s faith with incredible performances.

When Barcelona were trying to start negotiations with Arsenal in the summer, Bellerin made his stand clear. He signed a new deal and hence, rejected a move back to Barcelona. We thought that his decision would end hopes of him joining Barca, but we were wrong.

Luis Enrique has announced his resignation, and by doing so, has ushered the club into a new era. This era will possibly bring Barcelona to the pinnacle of European football and Bellerin may want to be a part of that.

Realising this, Robert Fernandez has scheduled a meeting with Richard Low during the international break. This break is important for both clubs as Wenger could let the Gunners know of his decision about his future, and at the Camp Nou, a replacement for Luis Enrique may be earmarked.

But other than that, the negotiations for a deal for Hector Bellerin may also reach a conclusion. It was expected, before the contract renewal, that Bellerin would cost around €35 million. But the signing of a new deal may bump it up to €40 million. Bellerin is one for the future and would be a very wise investment.

According to Sport, Barcelona are plotting shock Thiago return

In 2012, Barcelona reluctantly let go of wonderkid and Xavi’s natural successor Thiago Alcantara for a lowly fee of €18 million. Pep Guardiola underused him and his injury caused him to play less than the 18 games required for his release clause to be it’s usual, but it wasn’t to be.

Pep Guardiola signed him for his Bayern team but he struggled to maintain a first-team place. The mercurial talents of Mario Gotze, Xabi Alonso, Javi Martinez and Arturo Vidal were ahead of him in the pecking order. But injuries to Martinez, the departure of Gotze along with the arrival of Carlo Ancelotti as manager has enabled him to peak. Whoscored.com has rated him 7.98 and he is in form.

And that’s what Barcelona are looking for, a playmaker that can rejuvenate the failing midfield. Robert Fernandez is looking at Marco Verratti and Bernardo Silva but Thiago will be the most popular option. The fans still consider him as Xavi’s successor and would love to see him back this summer.

Bayern Munich will certainly not want to sell Thiago but they have a lot of young midfielders that can fill his shoes at the Allianz Arena. Homegrown talent Joshua Kimmich and Renato Sanches are among that group.

Both of them have the potential to develop into world-class midfielders. But despite of these facts, it will take an astronomical amount of money to get him to return to Barcelona.
