Deulofeu had been the next big thing at La Masia, but he failed to live up to expectations. In his four-year stint with the first-team, he made just 2 appearances. He had two successive loan spells with Everton and Sevilla before joining Everton on a permanent deal.
At Goodison Park, he flourished under Roberto Martinez but the arrival of Ronald Koeman meant that he lost his first-team place. AC Milan have signed him on loan until the end of the season.
Deulofeu’s lack of consistent appearances for any team he has represented does not undermine his talent. His speed, agility, technique and dribbling make him a very good player.
The buy-back clause
He has been developing well and Robert Fernandez might want to capitalise on that.
"In an interview with Cadena SER, he said, “He didn’t play much at Everton while he’s doing well at Milan and he’s now even been called up to the national team.“This is good news for us because we can buy him back for €12 million. It’s good that we have this possibility.”"
Gerard Deulofeu sounded optimistic when at a press conference after his call-up to the national side after 2 years.
"He said, “Had I not gone to AC Milan and played regularly, I would not be here [the national team]. Montella [AC Milan manager] has been key. As soon as I arrived, he gave me minutes against Juventus.I’m very happy in Milan. I hope to end the season in the same manner and whatever happens, will happen. It’s obvious that it’s beautiful to hear nice things. But I need to focus on what I have to do. To think further ahead would be heading in the wrong path.Milan is a great club. You always want to be in a big club. But right now I’m on loan at Milan, Barca have an option to buy me at the end of the season and I cannot think too far ahead.”"
Barcelona have always been great at inserting buy-back clauses in the contract of departing youngsters, but this was a work of art. The Denis Suarez deal was a stroke of genius, and so was this.
If Deulofeu continues to perform as well as he has at the San Siro, we might see him at the Camp Nou come summer. The squad needs him too.
Rafinha has slotted into the right-wing position when Messi was fatigued, but that slot in the squad has been empty for a long time now. Deulofeu gives Messi some quality cover and some much-needed rest.
Sevilla’s star Vitolo admits that it would be ‘nice’ to play for Barcelona

If we speak of the best Spanish wingers in the game, the name of Vitolo will always come up on the list. He has developed massively since arriving at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan from Las Palmas in 2013. Vitolo is one of the most important players in the Sevilla squad and is very versatile.
It seems that Barcelona are in need of a backup for Lionel Messi on the right wing, hence the links with Gerard Deulofeu. Vitolo is capable of filling that slot in the squad. Messi is ageing, he has shown no signs of it yet but his stamina will reduce. And then, Barcelona will need a better backup than Rafinha.
Vitolo will be the ideal signing for Barcelona. He is the complete package, he can play on both wings and is a wonderful crosser. He will not get too many minutes, but the prospect of playing for Barcelona entices him
"In an interview with Madrid-based sports publication Marca, he said, “Who would not want to play for one of Spain’s biggest teams? It would be nice – they are always linked with a lot of names and you don’t know what’s going to happen.I am calm because I am very comfortable at Sevilla; they treat me very well and I am happy here.”"

Vitolo has a release clause of €40 million, but negotiations will hopefully decrease that to a more reasonable figure. The star winger might just be on his way to the Camp Nou.
