Jordi Alba has been playing very poorly this season. He has lost his place in the first-team and has failed to adapt to the changes brought about by Luis Enrique. The 3-4-3 formation does not have a place for a proper full-back.

Luis Enrique has played him on the left-hand side of midfield, but he has failed miserably in that role. The overlapping runs have stopped occurring, so have the crosses. Alba’s rise has been meteoric, but the pacy left-back is close to the end of his time at the Camp Nou.

He has performed badly in the 4-3-3 formation too. Alba’s forward runs are closed down easily and his crosses do not seem to connect. Instead, Lucas Digne has performed much better in that left-back role in the 4-3-3.

Jordi Alba is now angling for a move to the Premier League. Manchester United have been monitoring him for a long time. A move to Old Trafford could materialise in the summer for Alba. Alba has expressed his admiration for Jose Mourinho and United in the past.

Jordi Alba could still have a future at Barcelona. With Luis Enrique leaving at the end of the season, his successor could have plans for Alba in his squad. Therefore, it is likely that Alba will find out his future when Robert Fernandez settles on a new manager.

Alba has reportedly asked his former teammates Cesc Fabregas and Pedro about how life is at Chelsea. He is also interested in a move to the London club and wants information about life at Stamford Bridge under Antonio Conte.

Barcelona have made up for their youth struggles by poaching Spanish youngsters from other clubs. This was the case for Jordi Alba, and now is the case for Theo Hernandez. Hernandez has been a long-term target of the club.

The club was interested in gaining his services last summer but instead, Atletico shipped him off to Alaves on loan. Theo has performed very well at Alaves and has attracted attention from Barcelona yet again.

Real Madrid have also expressed interest in him. Los Blancos have courted him and have offered him a €6.2 million contract. But Theo Hernandez is more interested in a move to the Camp Nou, and so is his agent. Manuel Garcia Quilon represents Theo Hernandez.

Incidentally, he is also the agent of ex-Real coach Rafael Benitez. Quilon was reportedly unhappy by Florentino Perez’s treatment of him and his client during Benitez’s short tenure as manager. He had reached a verbal agreement with Real, but will cancel it in favour of Barcelona.

Barcelona will have to activate his release clause in order to gain his signature. The figure currently stands at €24 million, which the club can easily regain by selling Jordi Alba
