Arda Turan has been a liability for the club ever since he put his signature on the dotted lines. Turan could not play in the first six months. After he started to play, he was horrible and Luis Enrique wrongly used him used in central midfield. He failed miserably in a playmaker role.

After the beginning of the new season, he showed glimpses of his old form in the left wing position. The return of Neymar from international duty meant that he lost his first-team spot. After that, he has been on the injury table.

The word ‘misfit’ and Arda’s time at Barcelona go very well together. The management had realised this and wanted to get rid of him. But Turan could not agree terms with the Chinese clubs which had approached him. But he did not want to leave Europe and stayed put.

The rumours

Now, Turan has emerged as a player who many clubs are looking to acquire. Rumours linking him to Arsenal surfaced when he purchased property in London. That was dismissed then, but the rumours have resurfaced. They will reportedly offer €25 million for his services.

Other than Arsenal, Arda’s former club Galatasaray have also entered the race for his signature. Despite having big names such as Lukas Podolski and Wesley Sneijder in their squad, Galatasaray have faltered in recent seasons, failing to capture the league title. The signing of Turan would significantly improve their squad and remove him from our wage budget.

Athletic’s poster boy has been Aymeric Laporte for a long time. Laporte has been a hot property for a long time, having cemented a first-team spot at Bilbao. But this season, another young talent has risen. Yeray Alvarez has been one of Bilbao’s most consistent performers this season.

And that has caught the eye of Robert Fernandez.

Earlier, Barcelona, like most top European clubs, were interested in Aymeric Laporte. The interest cooled down due to Laporte’s loyalty to Athletic and the insane price tag placed on him by Bilbao.

According to Sportskeeda, Robert Fernandez is still keen on Laporte but the price is too high for his liking. A price of €65 million for a developing player is truly a huge fee. That is why he has set his sights on gaining the signature of Laporte’s partner in defense.

Yeray Alvarez has a buyout clause of €30 million, which is considered reasonable. Robert Fernandez could get a good Spanish centre-back for the squad next season if the rumours materialise.
