The Villarreal and Mexican midfielder had a lot of nice things to say about Barcelona, Luis Enrique, and Lionel Messi among others.

Barcelona have no margin for error for the rest of the season. With their Champions League hopes slashed at the hands of Juventus, they now turn their attention to the La Liga campaign. The title is in control of Real Madrid, but the race is not even close to over. The Catalans will need a lot of help and they’ll have to also help themselves. Another tough clash is looming as Villarreal come to town looking to spoil the hopes of Barca.

One of Villarreal’s players is a familiar face to many Barca fans. Former Barca midfielder Jonathan Dos Santos played with the Catalans from 2009-2014 on the senior team. He didn’t make many appearances as he only played in 28 games over that time period. Dos Santos also played for the Barca B team in his time with the club. The Mexican international had a few things to say about the team they’ll face this weekend and some of the key figures as well.

More from Everything Barca

"“I always watch Barcelona games. I feel a lot of love for the club and I’ll always support them. As much the club as the city, they were everything and they still are for what they did for me as a player and a person. “We hope it will be a good game to watch and let’s see if we can win. The team is doing very well physically and we won at the Vicente Calderon, which is very tricky.”Dos Santos On His Respect for Barca and the form of Villarreal"

Dos Santos also talked about Lionel Messi and Luis Enrique by saying, “I know everything he’s worked for and I have a lot of affection for him. He’s a great person and he deserves everything that he gets.” That is certainly true about the magic man. When it comes to Lucho he said, “he’s done spectacular work, winning 11 titles and there could be more.” Despite the low odds, this is also true as Barca has the chances win the domestic double again.

Overall, Dos Santos and Villarreal do present a lot of problems. They did steal a point from Barca in their last meeting. Villarreal did pull of a semi-shocker as they went into the Calderon, the home of Atletico Madrid and stole three points from them recently. His team is looking to win once again this time in the Camp Nou. However, Barca are tough opponents in their home stadium and should present a big challenge to Villarreal. Hopefully, the Catalans are up to the task.
