Josep Maria Bartomeu answers the biggest question for Barcelona right now: Is Ernesto Valverde the right man for the job?

After Luis Enrique announced that he was leaving the club in the middle of the season, the search began to find a new manager. After a few months, Monday May 29th was the day that the announcement was made. Barcelona announced that they have hired Ernesto Valverde to become the next manager of the team. This comes as no surprise as he has been rumored to join team for a while now. The question is was the former Athletic Club manager the right choice to replace Lucho as the top man on the coaching staff? Although it’s too early to tell for Barca fans, Barca President Josep Maria Bartomeu answered that question.

"“I have spoken personally with Ernesto Valverde and I told him of our decision. He said he is very excited and very happy, that it’s a great challenge to come in as head coach of Barca. There is time to talk about why we chose him. We know he has ability, his knowledge and his experience. He loves youth football and he has a special style, similar to what we do at Barca. He has philosophy similar to Barca’s and trains the way we like to train.”Bartomeu On His Decision To Hire ValverdeMore from Everything BarcaFC Barcelona tracking Belgian WonderkidFC Barcelona vs Betis Player RatingsBarça boss Xavi to get contract extensionFC Barcelona planning swoop for Arsenal midfielderBarcelona interested in €30 million wonderkid"

It’s good to know that Bartomeu believes in Valverde. Of course, fans would like to believe that Valverde will do a great job with the team. The new boss will have to make sharp decisions on and off the field to help the team be successful again. Despite his success, Valverde is coming in after what is considered a disappointing season in 2017. He’ll begin the next season with some important matches including El Clasico in the Spanish Super Cup against Real Madrid. However, Bartomeu feels he is the right guy for the job.

"“He was not the only one because in the moment Luis Enrique told us he would not continue, the search started, but it is true that Robert Fernandez only put forward one name, Valverde’s. And in the meeting we all accepted him. It’s impossible not to accept Valverde as coach.”Bartomeu On Accepting Valverde"

Overall, the speculation is over and now it’s time for Valverde to step into the spotlight. The team has to make tough decisions on who to buy and who to sell. In addition to that, the front office and Valverde must work together to put the best product on the field. Barcelona will be looking for a bounce back season next year and hope to compete for many trophies.
