Is the Barcelona board starting the 2017-18 in the right direction?  Fans are expecting a lot out of the team after a tough 2017.

Various Barcelona fans across the world are expecting a lot from their club in the upcoming season. The new coach with his new ideologies and tactics has set the stage. He aspires to promote La Masia. In addition to that, Messi, Ter Stegen, Suarez and Neymar have renewed with the Blaugrana. Because of this, there is now faith that the players are showing for the Barcelona board and management.

Various reports have linked various players with Barca. Heavily linked players like Verratti, Ceballos, Coutinho, Bellerin, Semedo, and Dembele are seen as good fits for the Barca squad. It would guarantee the team a great future. Despite the fact that players are getting linked to the club, none of the players have arrived at Barcelona so far. Verratti clearly denies any ‘move away from the French Capital’. In addition, “Dembele isn’t going anywhere” as the BVB President has stated.

The reports of Coutinho, Semedo etc. joining Barca have faded away. Despite that, Bellerin is still linked with the Club but it is not too promising for a signing. Barca only have signed Deulofeu, a quality signing indeed. Although Deulofeu is a great start, there is much more that Barca need to address soon.

More from Everything Barca

Overall, there are many things that concern the fan base. Why isn’t the club going for any good signing in the areas where we require players?  The competition in European Transfer Market is very difficult. Although that is the case, Barca is the biggest club on the planet. The Blaugrana need a good midfielder and are in dire need of it. However, the club hasn’t taken any steps to sign a midfielder who can join us this season.

Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen is not considering a move. In addition to that, Marco Verratti’s future is in the hands of PSG. Our prime target Cabellos joined Real Madrid. Real Madrid, Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool etc. have signed key players to improve their squad for the upcoming season. However, Barca clearly hasn’t made any efforts to improve the squad.

Many reports suggest Paulinho joining Barcelona in few days time. Paulinho is a good player and he can perform well. We need players for long run but he is 29. We need some good midfielders to replace Iniesta in coming years and we have to go for it as soon as possible. Our club needs young talents and La Masians in the coming years.

Selling off Jordi Mboula is something I never expected. Eric Garcia (CB) of La Masia is joining City at a low price. We just can’t sell off young home-grown talents. Seems like Most of the players consider a move away from La Masia because the don’t consider Barca’s future policies too promising. The promotion of La Masia players has faded as well.

Overall, the team needs to begin to get aggressive in this transfer window. We are in dire need to sign a player. The expectations from the fans is sky-high after a tough 2017 campaign. In order to meet those expectations, the Club needs to respond and wake up its conscience. In the end, we need to believe in Ernesto Valverde and stay positive.
