Xavi Hernandez doesn’t think that former Barcelona players that left the club on their own shouldn’t be re-signed back to the team.
Overall, Barcelona legend Xavi Hernandez has been giving his opinions on the current state of the club. After a lot of consideration, the team has a new manager in Ernesto Valverde. There are players like Gerard Deulofeu and Marlon Santos who have signed on permanent deals. In addition to that, there are some departures like Jeremy Mathieu to Sporting Lisbon and Christian Tello to Real Betis. Xavi, the player with the most appearances for Barcelona, has a lot to say about his former team.
The Spanish midfielder talked about how much the kids at his self-named football camp want him to come back to Barca. He also talked about how Luis Enrique implemented his system with Barca’s style of play. However, the biggest question that was asked is if Barca would sign Arsenal defender Hector Bellerín. The reason is because Bellerín is an ex-Barca youngster. Overall, Xavi provided pretty interesting answers to these questions.

"I haven’t seen him play much, but I’ll say one thing: it would be difficult for me to sign a player we’d already had. Yes, it can turn out good, bad or average. But I’m not in favour of re-signing players who have left. Why do they leave at 16 or 17? It seems ridiculous to me. I don’t understand it.Xavi in reference to Bellerín, Pique, and Cesc Fabregas"
Xavi is saying that Bellerín shouldn’t be re-signed by the team after he decided to go to Premier League club Arsenal. However, there have been successful cases of bringing players back to Barca like Gerard Pique and Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas. He made the same comments in reference to Eric Garcia and Jordi Mboula.
"To be honest, I was very surprised by what they did. I wouldn’t re-sign them in the future. I’d have that approach. You were here, you wanted to leave, well don’t come back.Xavi on Mboula and Garcia Leaving"
Overall, Xavi gave interesting answers and didn’t dodge any of the big questions. In addition to talking about re-signing former Barca players, the Spaniard mentioned that the team will be motivated after losing La Liga to Real Madrid. Of course, his campers really want him to coach at some point. Xavi has stated that he would like to be the manager of Barca someday.
Despite his desires to coach, he is still playing in Qatar with Al Sadd. Overall, his future could definitely be in coaching if that is what he desires. For now, we’ll see if Barca can bounce back from a rough 2017 season under Ernesto Valverde.
