FC Barcelona transfer rumour update – Mesut Özil and Neymar
Unsettled Arsenal playmaker Mesut Özil alternative to Philippe Coutinho
According to RMC, Liverpool has rejected a €100 million from Barcelona for Philippe Coutinho. This is very indicative of their position on Coutinho. Just after the French radio station released the report, Jurgen Klopp again spoke against the transfer.
"On Liverpool’s official website, he said, “If you say he is not available to be sold, where is the interpretation? The word ‘not’ means there is no interpretation. There is nothing new.”"

This means that Barcelona have to look elsewhere for a new playmaker. And Robert Fernandez is looking towards unsettled Gunner Mesut Özil to fill that void in the squad.
Özil’s situation at the Emirates is a unique one. The star German midfielder loves his club. But the club officials are reluctant to match Özil’s wage demands. That places him in a contract dispute with the club. Robert is looking to swoop in and gain his signature while Arsenal officials continue to negotiate.
According to the Telegraph, Barcelona will make a €59 million offer to prize away the playmaker from Arsenal. Özil’s contract has just a year to run. If he doesn’t renew his deal at the Emirates, he will leave for free next summer. Arsenal does not want that to happen.
Özil is a very valuable player. Therefore, Arsenal will have to accept the offer that Barcelona put forward.
Neymar set to fly to Paris from China to finalise Paris Saint-Germain move
Le Parisien have reported that the game against Chapecoense will be Neymar’s last. After donning the Barcelona shirt for the last time, the star forward will fly to Paris to sign on the dotted lines. This comes after months of speculation about his future.
Neymar will get an annual salary of €30 million and PSG will pay €222 million for his services. Also, Neymar will receive €26 million in compensation from Barcelona. But every cloud has a silver lining.
La Liga president Javier Tebas has backed Barcelona in this deal.
"He said, “Even if they don’t pay the release clause [of Neymar] we will report them. They cannot make up some commercial numbers that are bigger than Barcelona or Real Madrid. Nobody believes that, which means that the state of Qatar is injecting money and that violates Financial Fair Play.”"

But we must brace ourselves for the impact because a deal of this magnitude will leave a huge void in the squad.
