Back on March 8th, it would have been hard to envision what is going on today with Neymar and Barcelona.

The Brazilian had just put in a mercurial performance in the miraculous comeback victory over PSG in the Champions League. His floated ball found Sergi Roberto’s foot and pandemonium ensued. Not even close to his prime, it was a glimpse of what Barcelona fans could see for years to come.

Nearly five months later, Neymar has done everything but put pen to paper to join the Paris outfit, to join the hearts he broke not long ago. La Liga may have something else to say about it, but for all intents and purposes, the deal is just about done.

It’s hard to watch, to say the least.

At the same time, it’s something Barcelona can make the most out of.

The reported €222 million (roughly $263 million) release clause is far beyond ridiculous, but if PSG pay it and La Liga allows it, why not take it? There are many reasons to keep someone as brilliant as Neymar. However, two reasons come to mind right now as to why it’s ok to let him go.
