FC Barcelona transfer rumour update – Sergi Roberto and Coutinho
Manchester United set to launch operation to sign Sergi Roberto
According to Mundo Deportivo, Manchester United will be launching an offensive for Sergi Roberto. Barcelona have the Spaniard tied down till 2019. But his contract contains a release clause of €40 million. In today’s inflated transfer market, that is not unreasonable for a player of Roberto’s caliber.
Chelsea and Juventus have also expressed interest in his services. But United have pulled ahead in the chase for the midfielder. They are readying themselves to activate the release clause and snap him up quickly.
Why he would want to leave?

But Sergi Roberto may decide to leave the club. Ernesto Valverde has moved him back to the midfield, after the signing of Nelson Semedo from Benfica. But the midfield is completely packed, and he won’t even be a second-choice option.
No one can displace Iniesta, Rakitic and Busquets from the first-team. Even the second team features talents like Andre Gomes, Denis Suarez and Rafinha. He would get lesser playing time and therefore, may opt for a move.
According to Sport, Roberto’s agent Josep Maria Orobitg met with club officials to ask for a new contract. But the new development may change his stance completely. The report says that Valverde will meet with Roberto to resolve his future.
As for the moment, Sergi Roberto is at the club and hopefully, the beacon-holder of La Masia stays at the Camp Nou.
