That generation consists of players like Angel di Maria, Javier Pastore, Mauro Icardi and Lionel Messi. He has a huge responsibility on his shoulders to carry the legacy by Messi and di Maria, along with Icardi.
But until now, he has braced that responsibility with ease. The hot prospect has scored 8 times for the Argentina U-20 side in 11 appearances. In the Argentine league, he has scored 9 goals in 27 appearances.
Martinez’s performances have earned him a few suitors in Europe. According to El Gráfico, Aletico Madrid and Barcelona are leading the pack. The report claimed that last week, Martinez’s representative, Rolando Zárate met with Atletico officials to discuss a deal.
Apparently, Atletico want to activate Martinez’s €9 million release clause. But the deal will include a year in Atletico B. The report also said that Zárate met with Barcelona officials to negotiate a potential deal.
But Racing are not welcoming any offers. They are currently in talks renew Martinez’s contract, hence raising the release clause to €15 million. This may hinder negotiations, but a consensus may be reached.
Lautaro Martinez would inject some fresh energy into the squad. He has huge potential and he will get the opportunity to realise it at the Camp Nou.
Barcelona to go back in for Christian Eriksen
According to the Independent, Barcelona is going after Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen to replenish the midfield. The first-choice Philippe Coutinho is going nowhere, and therefore, alternatives are necessary.
And Eriksen is one of the best playmakers in the midfield. He is one of the better options available to Robert Fernandez. The club management feels that his link-up play can benefit the squad greatly.
The report claims that Barcelona have begun negotiations through intermediaries in England. Therefore, there has been no direct contact. But direct contact is necessary for a deal of this magnitude to go through.

Therefore, at this stage of the transfer window, it is unlikely that Barcelona can pull this off.
