Substitutes

Denis Suarez (Deulofeu, ’59) – 5.5

Decent cameo. He certainly couldn’t do worse than Deulofeu, although some moments he made questionable decisions. When an inverted winger cuts to his favored foot, it should be quick. However, Suarez was rather deliberate and it slowed down some moves for Barcelona. Did put together some exciting runs, though.

Sergi Roberto (Iniesta, ’68) – 5

Picked up where Iniesta left off as he did not contribute all that much. By the point he was on, either players were fighting or the ball was at Messi and Suarez’s feet.

Paco Alcacer (Rakitic, ’86) – N/A

Not on long enough to make an impact in a last-ditch move to get a striker on.

Manager

Ernesto Valverde – 7

Until someone is bought, Deulofeu is going to be the left winger. Perhaps Rafinha would be an option there, while Denis Suarez did play there during his time at Villarreal and replaced Deulofeu before the hour-mark. Though it didn’t warrant a result, it was the best move to make there. However, it was close to Valverde’s best possible starting lineup. He just needs a left winger. His decisions can’t be faulted for the loss though. All lack of execution was on the pitch.
