Suárez could easily have been the player to take the Ballon d’Or away from Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. But some incidents occurred that dogged him down. The media took the spotlight away from his performance and put it on the controversies.
But Suárez has always persevered. But it may not be enough. He is still famous for the incidents involving him and Giorgio Chiellini in the World Cup and the one involving Patrice Evra in the Premier League.
This is the season for ‘El Pistolero’ to consolidate his legacy and clear it of all blots. Suárez needs to steer the team along with Lionel Messi, following the break-up of MSN. Last season, he showed that he could create as well as finish.
Now, he needs to work extra hard so that the void created by Neymar’s departure cannot be felt. But he also needs to steer clear of controversies. Last season, there were several instances of him diving.

Luis Suárez has about two more years of prime fitness. He needs to make the most of it to overcome his media image and show the world how good he actually is. If he fails to do so, he will fade into oblivion as just a ‘prolific goalscorer’ and Diego Forlan will always dominate him.
