Goalkeeper
GK Marc Andre Ter Stegen – 4.5
For all he wasn’t at fault for in the first leg, the German certainly should have done better on Asensio’s opener. It was a great hit, but at the very least he could have given it a dive. Benzema’s goal was far less his fault, and he was otherwise not noteworthy.
Defenders
RWB Sergi Roberto – 5.5
With a bit less defensive responsibility and more license to go forward, the makeshift defender provided some dangerous moments and passes up the right flank. Pushed into midfield with the move to a back four and he had a great chance in alone on goal that he didn’t finish. Perhaps he should have, but nothing was going Barca’s way anyway.

CB Javier Mascherano – 6
Sometimes, when your defense isn’t looking great, the best recipe is steel. While Asensio’s opener can’t be put on the Barcelona defense, they were solid otherwise. The reintroduction of Mascherano to that group was a big part. He crunched into tackles, and looked sharp for 33. He could be key this season, albeit in a bit-part role.
CB Gerard Pique – 4.5
Weird performance from the player who was really, really bad in the first leg. He won some aerial battles in the back and wasn’t the worst of the center backs. However, it was his number put up for Barcelona’s first substitute five minutes into the second half. As Joe.co Tweeted, he was forced to leave with a bruised ego.
CB Samuel Umtiti – 4
He was the most polished in defense in the first leg, but was far more shaky today. He shanked a couple of clearances and then was turned far too easily by Karim Benzema for Real’s second of the day, all but putting the tie out of reach. Looked better in the second half, but his mistakes could not be undone.
LWB Jordi Alba – 5
Alba is certainly an attacking fullback as is, so a slight advancement in his role wasn’t anything new to him. However, while attacking so often, Lucas Vazquez and Dani Carvajal gave him headaches on Barcelona’s left side. In the end, he didn’t offer enough in the attacking end, and was replaced, likely for resting purposes, with just over 10 minutes left.
