Andre Gomes endured a torrid season last year. He failed to adapt to Luis Enrique’s tactics and was a failure. Fans and the media alike criticised the board for signing him. But Barcelona can redeem some of its pride in the transfer market.
Despite of his horrible season, Massimiliano Allegri believes that Gomes can be a success at Barcelona. Earlier, Juventus were chasing Jean Seri. But the midfielder opting to join Barcelona, the Old Lady is considering a move for Andre Gomes.
According to Tuttosport, Gomes’ agent Jorge Mendes is already working on a deal. To many, this transfer will be a respite.
Barcelona agree terms with Jean Seri while hitting a roadblock in negotiations with Nice
According to L’Equipe, Barcelona have already agreed terms with Jean Seri. His brother and agent was in the Catalan capital to negotiate a contract. The end result was an agreement for a four-year contract.
But as the Blaugrana have overcome a significant obstacle in the deal, another has emerged. According to Marca, the release clause in Seri’s contract expired on 15th July. Earlier, Barca could have activated his €40 million release clause and signed him.
But now, formal negotiations between the two parties need to take place.
Julien Fournier, director of football at Nice was quick to capitalise on this development.
"In an interview with Sport, he said, “We haven’t negotiated with Barça nor do I know of any negotiations lined up in the next few days. They’re just rumours, so we haven’t set a price for Seri.I think the player will stay with us this season. It’s true that he is open to listening to offers but he’s also happy at Nice whether we qualify for the group stages of the Champions League or not."
