Barcelona was reputed for having one of the best boards in the world, with the president and other officials true to their word, ably displayed by the legendary Josep Lluís Núñez. Although there were some tough years, the board has consistently been excellent.

However, this has changed since Josep Maria Bartomeu took over as president. The board first lost credibility when the media publicized the Neymar case.

In addition to Neymar’s criticism of the board, the situation at the Camp Nou is worsening by the day. The misadventures of the board has created havoc in Barcelona. Jordi Mestre had stated that he was ‘200% sure’ that Neymar would not leave.

Despite being so certain that Neymar would stay, that statement turned out to be false. This, coupled with the dodgy signing of Paulinho, has led to stars criticising the board.

Dani Alves frequently criticises the board and is fully justified in doing so. The board treated him very badly and it led to his departure.

"He said, “The board of Barcelona disrespected me before I left last summer. This is how I feel and nothing will change that [feeling].Before I left for Juventus, I told them ‘you’re going to miss me’, not as a player, because that club has incredible players, but [concerning] my spirit. They are going to miss all the blood that I spilled every time I put on that shirt.I went to my brother Neymar and gave him a big hug, he was crying and part of me was [crying] too.”"

After completing his world-record move to Paris Saint-Germain, Neymar too lashed out at the Barca board. Despite Neymar’s love for playing on the pitch, the board has ruined the image of the team off the pitch. Now, the Blaugrana are scrambling to find replacements for the Brazilian superstar.

"He said, “I don’t have anything to say to the Barcelona board.Well, actually I have something to say: That I am disappointed with them.I spent four years there and was very happy. I began happy, spent four years happy and left happy. But not with them. For me, they shouldn’t be in charge of Barca. Barca deserve much better, and everyone knows this.”"

These players were two of the most important players in the squad when Barca won the treble in 2014-15. Their opinion about the board shows just how badly it treats stars. This is what led to Neymar’s departure for PSG. If the board don’t change, Barca will be steps behind the worlds best teams for a long time.
