Forwards –

Ousmane Dembélé (first-choice) : Dembélé is the future of Barcelona’s forward line. He will feature in most games, as he needs game time to settle in. But Valverde should give him a rest in the cup games to keep him fresh.

Luis Suárez (first-choice) : ‘El Pistolero’ is a goalscoring machine. He is tireless, despite giving it his all in day in day out. But Ernesto Valverde should not take advantage of his passion for the game. He should he rested in the Copa del Rey.

Lionel Messi (first-choice) : The Argentine maestro is extremely fit and can pay every single game in the campaign. Valverde should not rest him unless it is absolutely neccessary.

Gerard Deulofeu (second-choice) : The pacy left forward can provide quality cover for Ousmane Dembélé and Lionel Messi. And Ernesto Valverde should use him as such. Deulofeu should be seeing a lot of game time this season.

Paco Alcácer (second-choice) : Alcácer was not at his best last season. But he has shown what he is capable of this pre-season. Valverde should use him as a substitute for Luis Suárez in the league and the Champions League and start him in the Copa del Rey.

Next: Sergi Samper moves to Las Palmas on loan

Munir el Haddadi (third-choice) : The Spanish talent has been given too many opportunities and he has failed. He even failed in his loan spell at Valencia. Ernesto Valverde has already told him that he will not be playing this season.
