Since Ernesto Valverde took over, he has been ordinary and has been Nélson Semedo’s backup. But on deadline day of the summer transfer window, Valencia put in a surprise last-minute bid for Vidal. The Aragonese club could not match Barcelona’s valuation. But it meant that the club was ready to let go of Aleix Vidal.
Now, the club has overturned its decision. After the fiasco regarding his future on deadline day, the likes of Arsenal and Juventus had expressed interest in signing him in January. But Barcelona have ruled out the prospect of letting go of Vidal.
The club took this decision after Ernesto Valverde recommended his stay. Valverde favours Vidal and is willing to give him sufficient playing time.
Barcelona and Real Madrid to battle it out for Valencia starlet Ferran Torres
In the January transfer window, there is going to be an El Clásico outside the pitch, on the negotiating table. Barca and Real Madrid have a tendency of going after each other’s targets just to spite each other.
Usually, it’s Los Merengues who go for Barcelona’s targets. But this time, its the other way around. Barcelona have expressed interest in Real Madrid’s target, Valencia wonderkid Ferran Torres.
The 17-year old has huge potential, and can grow to be one of the best players in the world. The winger has a release clause of €8 million. Both clubs can easily pay that sum, but the competition will be in convincing Torres to believe in the sporting project.
Frankly, Real Madrid have the edge in this regard as Zinedine Zidane has shown an eagerness to integrate youngsters into his squad. While Ernesto Valverde has not called up any player from Barca B as of yet.
