Bartomeu: Barca Not Leaving La Liga Amidst Catalonia Unrest

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu states that the team he presides over will not leave La Liga amidst the political situation in Catalonia.
The current situation in Catalonia has been a hot topic of discussion around the world over the last few weeks. Unrest between Spanish police and Catalonian citizens took place during the Catalonia referendum. In the sports world, this directly impacts the city of Barcelona and its famed sports teams. Of course, the football club is the most important of those teams and there is discussion that they could change leagues.
Catalonia might become independent from Spain and it would lead to Barca being in a tough position to stay in La Liga. However, Josep Maria Bartomeu wants his team to stay in the Spanish top flight despite what’s going on. The President of the club made sure to let his board members know that they are not planning to leave.
Meanwhile, on the pitch Barcelona are continuing their great run of form. They defeated Malaga 2-0 with goals from Gerard Deulofeu and the ageless wonder Andres Iniesta. Lionel Messi had an assist which now means that he has been involved in 500 La Liga goals for Barca. He continues to play well, but his partner in crime Luis Suarez struggled once again.

Overall, Bartomeu would love to see his striker get back to form after great starts in previous seasons. He recently talked about how everything he does is in the best interest of FC Barcelona and it’s supporters. This includes what league the Blaugrana will play in. He also spoke about why his team will continue to stay in the Spanish top flight.
