Will Antoine Griezmann make a move to Barcelona?

Ernesto Valverde revealed his thoughts on Antoine Griezmann’s future with the Catalans after strong rumors emerged surrounding a possible move for the Frenchman.

As the winter market edges closer and closer, more transfer rumors are emerging for Barcelona and French star Antoine Griezmann tops the headlines for the Catalan club. According to reports in France, the Atletico Madrid striker has reportedly agreed to a deal worth around €90 million.

This is not the first time the Frenchman has been linked with a move to Camp Nou, but it seems much more serious this time around especially after coach Ernesto Valverde admitted his undeniable quality and talent.

The Barca boss, who appeared in a pre-match press conference before his side traveled to Madrid to face LaLiga side Leganes this Saturday, revealed his thoughts on the forward.

"“Griezmann is a great player, one of the names being talked about but for now I have the players that I have. In the future, we will see.“Of course, the club, like all clubs, is open to doing business in the January window, even though we’re happy with what we already have. We’re not going to close the door on anything.”"

Griezmann has been an integral figure in Diego Simeone’s team over the years, leading his side to one LaLiga title, one Copa del Rey, one Supercopa de España and two consecutive Champions League finals.

Although the 26-year-old is currently enduring a frustrating form, only scoring three goals in all competitions, Griezmann has proven the football world of his great potential.

“Antoine Griezmann has been directly involved in 16 (13 goals, 3 assists) of the last 32 Champions League goals Atletico Madrid have scored,” per WhoScored.com.

His strong presence and influence on the pitch make him a great Barca candidate for the winter market in January.

The France international is a very versatile player, as he can operate both centrally as an attacking midfielder or out wide on the wings either on the left or right side, something which can come in handy for Barcelona.

However, before the transfer market arrives, Atletico Madrid’s ace will face several tough challenges with his team. The first will be against Real Madrid this Saturday in the highly anticipated Madrid derby, and Simeone will be hoping the striker can rediscover his lethal goalscoring form against the Spanish giants.
