FC Barcelona transfer rumour update – Aleix Vidal and Mesut Özil
Barcelona to offer €30 million plus André Gomes for Mesut Özil
Mesut Özil has been having a bitter dispute with the Arsenal management over a new contract for him. His current deal runs out next summer, and he will be a free agent when it does. Arsenal have failed to convince to sign on the dotted line, and would probably prefer cash and a new player to having him for a further 6 months.

Barcelona have taken note of the situation, and are preparing a bid to lure the German international to the Camp Nou. The management has decided on a €30 million offer for him, with André Gomes moving in the other direction.
That would be an interesting prospect for Arsenal. The only worry they would have if they sold Özil for a small fee that it would not be enough to sign a proper replacement. But Barcelona will be offering Gomes as part of the deal, to sweeten the offer.
It would be mutually beneficial for all parties involved. Özil would get to play for a bigger club, Gomes would move to a league where his skills would be better utilised and Barcelona would sign a short-term Iniesta replacement and get rid of a deadweight at the same time.
But it remains to be seen if Arsenal feel that André Gomes is capable of replacing a player like Mesut Özil. And it is also expected that Philippe Coutinho would be the primary target of the club.
Barcelona have not received any offer for Aleix Vidal
Aleix Vidal has been linked with a move away from the Camp Nou in recent weeks, mostly owing to his lack of playing time. But the club’s international scout Ariedo Braida has dismissed these rumours.
"Addressing the report linking Vidal to a move to Roma, the Italian said, “I have no news on this and have not had any contact with Roma for the player.”"
This is good news because the squad needs Aleix Vidal right now. The Spaniard has been the only backup to Nélson Semedo ever since Sergi Roberto got injured. Ernesto Valverde should retain Vidal at least till the end of the season.

When the season gets over, the Basque coach can decide whether to persist with Vidal as third-choice right-back, or whether to call up B team captain Sergi Palencia to the first-team squad.
