Denis Suarez has undoubtedly shown his potential with the team, so why is the Barcelona youngster not getting the playing time he deserves?
The answer is clear. YES.
There is no doubt that at a club as big as Barcelona there will be competition between all of their skillful players to get their name on the starting 11 and even though Denis Suarez has shown he deserves to be alongside Messi and Co., Ernesto Valverde continues to keep him on the bench.
The Waiting Game
Denis is patiently waiting for his chances to come game after game and despite his incredible performances during his small amount of playing time, he is still somehow stuck on the bench for the majority of Barca’s matches.
But the midfielder is not giving up, he will fight to become a regular starter for his Catalan club even if it means occasionally appearing in the last 15 minutes of their games.
Great Potential

Denis Suarez is still young (23) and looks to be very promising for Barca’s future and for Spanish football. His versatility, quick pace and creative vision make him a unique player and potential replacement for when veteran Andres Iniesta decides to hang up his boots.
The former Manchester City man joined Barcelona’s B side from 2013 until 2015, went to Sevilla on loan for one year, then made a switch to Villarreal before returning back to the Catalan side but this time to the first team. However, since his move back to the Camp Nou, it has not gone as expected. The Spaniard has not formed into an integral figure for the team, as the coach usually calls up newly signed Paulinho or Andre Gomes over the Galician.
But when he does get playing time, his presence on the field shines and his natural link-up with Lionel Messi is outstanding. This has left many fans puzzled at Valverde’s ongoing decisions to keep such a talented player on the sidelines.
He has the talent, quality, and vision of what a Barcelona player needs, so why is he not the coach’s first option?
The player has admitted he does not feel very stable at the club and is disappointed his name is always on the table when the transfer markets arrive.
"“I feel that whatever I do, I am always on the market. I do not want to leave Barcelona, I’ve said that for a long time. I want to succeed here, I have rejected a proposal to leave and the rumours aren’t coming from me,” he said to Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo."
Suarez has definitely shown his worth and just needs more playing time to perfect his game. He has made 11 appearances this season, scoring and assisting twice in all competitions.
