Barcelona have been tracking several midfielders over a long period of time. The club came very close to signing Marco Verratti and Philippe Coutinho but couldn’t pull it off. But by next summer, the average age of the midfield trio would be 32, and that can never be a good sign.

In January, a midfielder should not be the priority but next summer, a signing to reinforce the midfield is necessary. Also, the management needs to be decisive on this matter, especially considering the failed signings made by the club in recent transfer windows.

The club’s scouts have done a good job of creating reports on all the talented playmakers in Europe and South America. Now, it will be up to the management to decide on the right option.
