4. Mesut Özil

Mesut Özil is one of the best players in the world. He is the complete package. He is adept at set-pieces, a brilliant distributor of the ball and has a knack for finding killer balls. Financially, Özil is an excellent option.

The German star’s contract at Arsenal expires at the end of the season and he would be a free agent when it does. Hence, despite huge wages demands from Özil, the club would not need to pay any transfer fee to Arsenal.

But regardless, he is not a good option with respect to the long-term future of the club. He is 29, and will turn 30 next year. Within a couple of seasons, he will start to decline and will need a replacement.

But in the short-term, he is a very good option, and can bring immediate success to the club.
