Top 5 midfield targets for Barcelona
3. Jean Seri
Barcelona came close to signing Jean Seri in the summer. The deal almost went through until the club pulled the plug. It crushed Seri’s dream of playing for Barcelona, but a deal might be back on in January.
But Seri isn’t the best option out there. He is 26, which is not the ideal age to join Barca at this stage. The club needs a player who will stay in his prime for at least another 7-8 years. And in that perspective, there are better options than Seri.
Also, the Ivorian midfielder hasn’t had a proper taste of top-level European football. Nice played in the Europa League this season, and they were drawn against Lazio, SV Zulte Waregem and Vitesse, none of whom are top teams.
But he has the talent, and he would do well at Barcelona. But he would need at least a season to acclimatise himself with the La Liga and the Champions League, which would be difficult. But signing him would not be difficult for the club, since he has a release clause.
