Barcelona are closing in on Yerry Mina, as Philippe Coutinho set to undergo medical

Barcelona will present Yerry Mina and Philippe Coutinho together on Wednesday. While the club has completed a deal for Coutinho, the transfer of Yerry Mina is imminent. The combined fee for both of these Latin American players is a staggering €172 million.

The club has paid Liverpool €120 million in principal fee for Coutinho, with €40 million in variables and add-ons. He will undergo a medical on Monday. And after that, he will sign a contract up to 2023, with a release clause of €400 million.

Barcelona are expected to pay around €12 million for Yerry Mina. The agreement between Barça and Palmeiras was for Mina to move to the Camp Nou in the summer of 2018 for a fee of €9 million. But since Barcelona have accelerated the deal, the club needs to cough up an extra €3 million.

More from Everything Barca

These two signings mean that all of the money from the Neymar deal is gone. The club has other sources for funds, but the squad has too many players. Players like André Gomes and Arda Turan need to leave immediately.

But unfortunately, Javier Mascherano is leaving the club too. The Argentine is a club legend, and the acceleration of talks for Yerry Mina means that Mascherano has played his last game for Barça.

And it also means the end of the road for Rafinha. The Brazilian is a home-grown player who understands the club, and has loads of potential. But Philippe Coutinho’s entry into the scheme of things means that he will not get any more playing time.

But whatever has happened is for the best, and the money spent on these transfers will be worth it in the future.
