Barcelona looks to continue their unbeaten run against Real Sociedad, a team that has given the Blaugrana some problems over the years.

Barcelona will be aiming to restore their lead at the top of the table over when they take on Real Sociedad at the Anoeta stadium. However, the Anoeta has been a tough place for Barcelona to play over the years. Despite that, Sociedad have been struggling a bit to begin the season as they sit in 14th place going into this match. Meanwhile, the Blaugrana are 6 points ahead of Atletico Madrid after they won 1-0 away against Eibar.

Ernesto Valverde’s team has been on top of their game since a crushing defeat in the Spanish Super Cup against Real Madrid. Speaking of which, Real Madrid lost in shocking fashion to Villarreal on Saturday after a late winner. This means that the Blaugrana can potentially move 19 points ahead of their struggling arch-rivals.

Barca will attempt to stretch their unbeaten streak to 29 games against Real Sociedad in this match. They are coming off of a dominant Copa del Rey victory over Celta Vigo. The Catalan club is in really good form on and off the field. In addition to the play on the pitch, they’ve been big in the  transfer market. Yerry Mina and Philippe Coutinho have both become Barca players during the week after leaving Palmieras and Liverpool respectively.

Once again, Real Sociedad are having a difficult season and find themselves in the bottom half of the La Liga table. However, they did beat Sevilla, a very quality La Liga side, before the New Year holiday. In addition to that, they’ve qualified for the round of 32 of the Europa League. Barcelona knows that Sociedad are a tough team that has given them a lot of trouble in their stadium.
