Sergi Roberto commits to FC Barcelona with new bumper deal

Barcelona superstar Sergi Roberto commits with La Blaugrana with a new contract which will run until 2022. 

Barcelona first choice left-back Sergi Roberto signed a new contract on Friday which will see him with La Blaugrana till 2022. The 25-year-old signed four and half years deal with Catalan. The new buyout clause set by La Liga leaders is around 500 million euros which is more than that of two major signings of Osmane Dembele and Philippe Coutinho.

Sergi Roberto is another superstar which has come up from ranks of Barcelona academy better known as La Masia. Roberto joined La Masia when he just 14 from Nàstic de Tarragona. He made his first-team debut under Pep Guardiola on 10 Nov 2010, in a 5-1 win against Ceuta in Copa del Rey. 2013 was the breakthrough year for Sergi Roberto.

Although it took some time for him to get his footing, Sergi Roberto is now a fan favorite in Camp Nou after his heroic performance against PSG in the famous 6-1 comeback after turning down the 4-0 deficit from the 1st leg. He has played in defense and in the midfield for the Blaugrana. He has proven to be a very important utility player that has a lot of creativity wherever he plays.
