Messi should be banned from FIFA claims Iran’s coach
Carlos Queiroz, the manager for Iran’s national team, has made a claim saying that Lionel Messi should be banned from FIFA competitions. However, the reason might make you chuckle.
There is hardly any day when we open internet and don’t see a football pundit acknowledging the genius of Lionel Messi. One such acknowledgment has been made in the most legendary way possible by Carlos Queiroz.
Carlos Queiroz has led a second consecutive World Cup qualification campaign with Iran. He joked about the great Lionel Messi in an interview with FIFA. Carlos previously coached South Africa, Porutgal in two stints and even Real Madrid. Queiroz has been the head coach for Iran since 2011. He was an assistant to the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson during Cristiano Ronaldo’s run at Manchester United.

Carlos recalled his horror of facing Lionel Messi in the 2014 World Cup. In which Lionel Messi managed to score the last-minute goal in the nail-biting encounter against Iran. Here is what he said in a recent interview with FIFA.
"“I’ve always said that Messi is an extraordinary player. He’s out of this world,” he told FIFA in an exclusive interview.“If he were human, he wouldn’t have had that magical moment in that match (Argentina beat Iran in the group stage with a late goal from Messi).“I don’t usually like losing, but I didn’t come away from that defeat with a negative feeling. It’s when something magical like that happens that you know that football is alive and kicking, and that’s why it’s one of the best sports in the world to watch.“And it’s even more of a special moment when it comes from a player who shouldn’t be allowed to play by FIFA until it’s proven that he’s actually human!”"
Lionel Messi has proven to be Argentina’s savior with a heroic performance against Colombia in the final match of world cup Qualification. Argentina had to win the match or potentially face elimination from the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Messi scored a historic hat trick in that game to take Argentina all the way to World Cup finals.
Although Messi led Argentina to the World Cup, the work will only be tougher when they begin group stage play. Argentina is tied in a difficult group where they have the tricky task of facing Iceland, Croatia, and Nigeria. It is arguably the toughest group in the World Cup and Messi will once again have to be great to lead Argentina to the knockout stages.
Overall, Queiroz and Iran are expected to have a tough time facing European champions Portugal, 2010 world cup winners Spain, and Morocco in one of the trickiest groups at the 2018 World Cup. Queiroz’s comment on the Barcelona superstar is clearly funny banter. However, just to make sure, FIFA should seriously conduct a test on Messi to clarify our doubts.
