Carles Aleñá

Undoubtedly, Carles Aleñá has been Barcelona B’s best player this season. In 28 appearances in the Segunda División, he has scored 9 goals and provided 4 assists. That is an exceptional return for a midfielder.

As for first-team action, he is being groomed by the Barça management to act as a successor to Ivan Rakitić. There are a lot of similarities between Rakitić and Aleñá. He is a rare talent, and the management made the right call by showing faith in him by awarding him a new contract.

There should be no question whether Aleñá should be called up to the first-team squad next season or not. Even if Robert Fernández remains at the club, the departure of André Gomes would compel him to promote Aleñá.
