Both Diego Maradona and Lionel Messi have made history, broken records and won awards during their respective careers. The Argentine maestro are equivalent vis-à-vis honours received, except for the World Cup, which Maradona won in 1986.

There are a lot of similarities in their playing style too, but differences too exist. Lionel Messi is clearly one of the best of all-time, but here is why Diego Maradona edges him in terms of being the greatest player ever to touch a football.
