Physique

Lionel Messi and Diego Maradona have similar physique. Short, compact, and agile. They both have lower centre of gravity, giving them more control over their movements with the ball. But there is a major difference between them.

Maradona had very strong legs, made so with years of being bullied by larger defenders. He could bulldoze his way past defences, and hence, this option was always available to him. But he rarely used it, for obvious reasons.

Messi has relatively weaker legs. He is more susceptible to fouls, and is very useful for drawing fouls in his zone, where he can easily bury free-kicks. But he has such magic in his feet that he does not require an extra option.
